The Ecorse Public Library is pleased to announce our participation in the “Food for Fines” campaign in cooperation with The Library Network and Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeast Michigan.
This campaign is an opportunity for libraries to engage patrons in helping our local community in making a huge and positive impact on the fight against hunger in our region while also offering a chance to expand the efforts into related activities like children’s events on hunger and nutrition. Participation by our children in this campaign will focus their attention on our continuing efforts to address this very real issue in many communities.
In the “Food for Fines” model, patrons will receive a reduction or forgiveness of library late fees by contributing a donation of non-perishable food items to this cause. For every one non-perishable food donation, the library will waive $1.00 in fines from the patron’s library record. This is for FINES ONLY. The campaign DOES NOT include Bills for Replacement (BFR) or costs of items assumed lost or damaged.
The six week campaign will begin on March 21, 2016 and run through April 29, 2016. Please contact the Ecorse Public Library for full details. Library hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Thank you for your consideration to participate in this effort.
